Throughout Europe new laws have been introduced to help increase save driving. To reduce the high fatality records in Spain, authorities have passed the legislation of the Driving Points System. Under the new law there are three main category drivers:
1- Normal (12 points) 2- Beginner (8 points) - Under 3 years experience 3- "Caught" (8 points) - Those who previously lost the license
How you can loose points
- Speeding over 50% or 30 km over the authorised speed - Driving under the influence of drugs - Refusing to undergo breath tests
- Speeding (over 40-50 km the limit) - Failing to respect a STOP sign - Failure to obey traffic police
- Driving without wearing seatbelts - Not obeying rules of overtaking other vehicles How to gain points after you lost them
If you have lost points on your licence, there are two ways to gain back those points: 1. For the "Sence and Re-education-Course" you will be rewarded 4 points. 2. After having lost points you dont make any mistake through 3 years, you regain all your points. |
