Spanish authorities are beginning to step up against those who let out their home, but avade to pay the income tax on rental income. Hacienda has started to track down these owners by searching through rental agents´ listings and going through small advertisements in the local newspapers.
A Spanish law now requires to fill in the property registry number on the income tax forms, making it harder to evade the rental income tax. In 2005 an additional € 862 million was collected from rental income tax. |
